Pork Belly Ramen

If you’re looking for a quick midweek meal that’s easy to prepare and full of flavour, ramen ticks all those boxes. But this recipe isn’t just your average ramen. Jack from Jacks Meat Shack has put together a mouth-watering pork belly ramen. See how he does it below. 

 

Cooking Method

  1. Preheat your grill to 160C. 
  2. Prepare the pork belly by trimming any excess fat. 
  3. Fully coat the pork belly strips with Meat Dust multi-purpose seasoning. 
  4. Place the pork over direct heat and grill on both sides until charred and the internal temperature is 63C. Leave to rest while you prepare the rest of the dish. 
  5. Chargrill the bok choi on direct heat whilst you prepare the ramen kit according to the packet instructions. 
  6. Assemble the dish by adding the ramen sauce, noodles, carrot, egg, and bok choi. Then slice the pork belly into stripes and place on top. Add some chilies for colour, heat it up and tuck in! 

The Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork belly slices 
  • 3 tbsp Jack’s Meat Dust Multi-Purpose Seasoning 
  • 1 bok choi 
  • 1 carrot julienne slices 
  • 1 egg soft boiled for approximately 5 minutes 
  • 1 ramen kit 
  • 1 red chilli sliced

Either answer can be right, it all comes down to the recipe you’re using, the flavours, and your personal preferences. Pork shoulder can make a great chashu for example, but for this recipe pork belly is definitely the better choice. Both cuts are fatty and will become tender when cooked correctly making them ideal for a flavourful ramen.
