Teriyaki Pork Belly

Pork belly is incredibly popular in a number of Chinese recipes. The flavours used compliment the meat nicely whilst always making sure it’s the star of the show. The great thing about this recipe is that it can be enjoyed all year round, whether it’s a hot summer day or a chilly winter evening.  

Our recipe is easy to follow and will make a delicious family dinner, especially for those who love Chinese infused dishes.  

Cooking Method

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 200C/180C fan/gas mark 5.  
  2. Place the slices of pork belly in a roasting tin and spoon on the teriyaki BBQ sauce.  
  3. Roast the pork in the oven for around 35-40 minutes, occasionally basting it in between.  
  4. While the meat is cooking, combine the carrot, cabbage, and onion in a serving bowl. 
  5. Stir the rice vinegar and mayo together and add some salt and pepper for seasoning and add this to the cabbage mixture.  
  6. Serve your pork belly with your newly create coleslaw and fries. 

The Ingredients

  • 600g of pork belly slices 
  • 90ml of teriyaki BBQ sauce with honey 
  • ½ a small white cabbage cut into shreds 
  • ½ a large red onion, sliced thinly 
  • 1 carrot, grated or shredded 
  • 5 tablespoons of light mayonnaise 
  • 3 tablespoons of rice vinegar 
  • 600g of cooked oven chips or fries

For this recipe we’ve opted to serve the teriyaki pork belly with fries and coleslaw but there are many ways to serve pork belly and several options to serve with it. Some examples include: 

  • Rice 
  • Sesame greens 
  • Sweet potato 
  • Noodles (in a stir fry) 
  • Mashed potatoes 
  • Beans
