2.4 Please ensure that you have read our statement on our privacy policy.
3.1 This website is operated by The Village Butchers. Once you have placed an order on the website we will confirm your order by sending an email to the email address you have provided. This email will list all products you have ordered, the price and delivery details. This is not an acceptance by us. A legally binding contract will only arise once we have completed delivery of the goods to you.
3.2 The initial information is entered by you when placing your order, and it will only be edited by our customer care team upon your request. This includes shipping and delivery dates. If you have entered an incorrect email address and receive no email purchase confirmation and/or any other details are incorrect then the onus is on you to contact us to amend your details, and we cannot be held responsible for the entering of incorrect information or your email service provider spam filtration.
4.1 The confirmation email we send will set out the latest time that you may amend or cancel your order, being 48 hours before 12pm on the day of dispatch - you cannot add items, you can only remove items or cancel whole order. Please note that during our festive despatch period (1st December- 31st December each year) (the “festive cut off time”) you must provide us with 7 days’ notice prior to despatch to amend or cancel your order. 7.1 Delivery costs. The costs of delivery will be as displayed to you on our website.
7.2 When we will provide your goods. You are able to choose an available delivery date and details when you order goods. We will confirm this in a confirmation email to you. We will try to deliver on your selected date, but such delivery dates are estimates only and we will notify you if your goods are not able to be dispatched within the agreed timescale for any reason. If the date you require is not available to select, it means either that day is sold out or we are not delivering on that date. Please note, we do not deliver on Sundays or Mondays.
7.3 We are not responsible for delays outside of our control. If our supply of your goods is delayed by an event outside of our control then we will contact you as soon as practically possible. We will take steps to minimise the effect of the delay. Provided we do this, we will not be liable for delays caused by the event, but if there is a risk of substantial delay you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for any goods you have paid for but not received.
7.4 As we are delivering perishable food items, our courier (DPD) is instructed to leave all parcels in a safe place during the allocated time slot if you do not come to the door. If you know in advance that you won’t be home, you can make specific arrangements with DPD regarding a safe place or alternative delivery option. However, please note: all deliveries left unattended are at your own risk.
You are responsible for being available during the time slot provided by DPD. If you choose to arrange an alternative with DPD or are not present, this is entirely at your own risk.
7.5 If no one is available to accept the delivery at your address, as the items are perishable, DPD may leave the goods in a safe place. This could include your doorstep or with a neighbour.
If your parcel is not found where DPD states it was left, we will treat this as a potential theft. In such cases, you may be eligible for a refund or replacement; however, you will be required to report the incident to the police and obtain a Crime Reference Number (CRN) for your claim to be considered.
7.6 When you become responsible for and own the goods. The goods will be your responsibility from the time we deliver the goods to the address you gave us. You own goods once we have received payment in full.
7.7 What will happen if you do not give the required information to us. We may need certain information from you so that we can supply your goods to you, for example, the quantity of food and the delivery address. If so, this will have been stated in the description of the goods on our website. We will contact you to ask for this information if not provided. If you do not give us this information within a reasonable time of us asking for it, or if you give us incomplete or incorrect information, we may either end the contract or make an additional charge of a reasonable sum to compensate us for any extra work that is required as a result. We will not be responsible for supplying the goods late or not supplying any part of them if this is caused by you not giving us the information we need within a reasonable time of us asking for it.
7.8 Reasons we may delay the supply of goods to you. We may have to delay the supply of goods to deal with technical problems or make minor technical changes, update the goods or packaging to reflect changes in relevant laws and regulatory requirements and/or make changes to the goods as requested by you or notified by us to you.
8.1 We are committed to offering you the very best service and the very best produce and we guarantee the quality of all goods and produce you order from us. You must inspect the goods immediately upon delivery and, in the event that you are dissatisfied in any way with either our service or the quality of the goods you receive, let us know promptly in writing via email to support@thevillagebutchers.co.uk or call 0330 229 2881.
8.2 Complaints in respect of service will be reviewed by our customer services.
8.3 While we strive to ensure timely deliveries, The Village Butchers, our employees, and our courier partner DPD cannot be held responsible for delays caused by adverse weather conditions or other circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will do our best to resolve the issue promptly. If you are ordering for a special occasion, we recommend selecting a delivery date at least 48 hours in advance of your celebration to allow for any unforeseen delays.
8.4 Returning Items – In some cases, we may need you to return items before we can proceed. If you’re not completely satisfied with your order, we kindly ask that you keep the packaging intact. Please contact our Customer Care team to arrange a return. Using the prepaid envelope and DPD drop-off points, you can easily complete the return process. This also ensures that items are disposed of properly, in accordance with our controlled waste policies.
8.5 If your delivery is missing from the spot where DPD left it, we will need to classify this as theft. To help us proceed, we kindly ask that you report the incident to the police using the link below and obtain a crime reference number (CRN). Once we have the CRN, we will be happy to resend your order or issue a refund. Unfortunately, we cannot take further action without this reference number.
